This bill appears aimed at countering the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. While I support Israel's right to exist securely, I have concerns that this labeling requirement could infringe on free speech rights of those who wish to express political views through consumer choices. The US should maintain neutrality on this complex geopolitical issue and not take sides via trade policy. For these reasons, I do not believe this bill serves the broader American public interest.

While the Houthi's actions in Yemen are deeply concerning, designating them as a foreign terrorist organization at this time could undermine critical humanitarian assistance and peace efforts. The situation requires a nuanced diplomatic approach focused on ending the conflict and alleviating suffering, rather than an escalation that could prolong the crisis. I believe the U.S. should continue to support the UN-led peace process and provide humanitarian aid, while using targeted sanctions as needed.

This bill takes important steps to lower prescription drug costs for Americans, especially seniors on Medicare. Allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and capping out-of-pocket costs will provide meaningful financial relief. While China's human rights abuses are deeply concerning, blanket sanctions on CCP officials are unlikely to meaningfully improve the situation and risk escalating tensions. A more targeted approach focused on specific perpetrators of abuses, combined with multilateral diplomatic pressure in coordination with allies, would be more effective. While preserving consumer choice is important, this bill would hinder the crucial transition to cleaner, more sustainable transportation. Phasing out internal combustion engines over time, in favor of electric vehicles and other low-emission alternatives, is essential for reducing air pollution and combating climate change.
